May 7 Meeting Announcement
Quarterdeck

This May Quarterdeck is going to be here to show all of their great utility software for Windows users. Name a PC utility category, and Quarterdeck is likely to have one or more products to entice you. Perhaps best known for their uninstaller, CleanSweep, they also offer a complete array of other tools. We're likely to see DiskClone, a hard drive copying utility; RealHelp, a program that proactively monitors your PC and fixes problems before they cause trouble; ViruSweep, which provides  maximum virus protection with free online anti-virus updates and free product upgrades; and lots more.
DVPC meetings are held in the lobby conference room in Building B at the Bank of America Technology Center office complex in Concord, located near the northeast corner of Clayton Road at Galindo (see the map, directions, and parking information on page 14). Please use the main entrance of the building, which is in the center of the front of the building that faces Clayton road.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. The New User's SIG has their meeting from 6:30 to 7:00. We'll also have the Networking Table from 6:30 to 7:00; if you have something to sell or trade, need technical help, or just want to exchange views, visit the Networking Table. We'll probably have one of our ever-popular mini-auctions with great products, so bring your checkbooks and cash! Also, as usual, we'll have library disks and those great DVPC mugs (version 2) for sale, SIG news, random access, and some of our usual great door prizes. See you at the meeting!

INCREDIBLE!!!!

What an incredible month! We are very excited to present a SNEAK PREVIEW of WINDOWS 98. This special event will occur on Wednesday, May 6 at California High School in San Ramon. (Directions to the High School are elsewhere in this issue). MICROSOFT is pulling out all the stops to give us a special introduction to the new operating system scheduled to ship on June 25th. In addition to the Microsoft presentation we hope that INTEL and COMPAQ will also be present to show new hardware that takes advantage of the new operating system. As of this writing however, neither company has confirmed. This will truly be an exciting evening - and hopefully Windows 98 won't crash like it did at Bill Gates' presentation in Chicago!
BUT wait, there's more! On our normal meeting
