January 8 Meeting Announcement

PowerQuest and ArcSoft

This month PowerQuest will demonstrate their disk management utilities. PartitionMagic® 3.0 lets you reclaim wasted disk space by reducing cluster waste. DriveCopy is an easy to use utility for copying your old drive to your new drive. Drive Image lets you easily create and store a compressible backup file of your entire hard drive, or just the partitions you specify, to the medium of your choice.
ArcSoft
will demonstrate PhotoStudio 2.0, a powerful, full-featured, 32-bit photo editor that's a "click" to use and light on system requirements, and Multimedia Email, a package that lets you create email "post cards" that contain images, video clips, and audio and can be sent to anyone with an email address.
DVPC meetings are held in the lobby conference room in Building B at the Bank of America Technology Center office complex in Concord, located near the northeast corner of Clayton Road at Galindo (see the map, directions, and parking information on page 14). Please use the main entrance of the building, which is in the center of the front of the building that faces Clayton road.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. The New User's SIG has their meeting from 6:30 to 7:00. We'll also have the Networking Table from 6:30 to 7:00; if you have something to sell or trade, need technical help, or just want to exchange views, visit the Networking Table. We'll probably have one of our ever-popular mini-auctions with great products, so bring your checkbooks and cash! Also, as usual, we'll have library disks and those great DVPC mugs (version 2) for sale, SIG news, random access, and some of our usual great door prizes. See you at the meeting!

President's Corner

I'm sure there isn't a better way to welcome the New Year than attending a DVPC meeting, but we couldn't convince the bank to let us in!
At our last board meeting, we discussed what I think is the most important issue facing our club at the present time: MEMBERSHIP. Like virtually every other computer group I've been in contact with, our membership is declining. I think that this is serious. The Board has decided to make our New Year's Resolution for the club the task of expanding our membership. We are preparing a few questionnaires to seek out the reasons. One set will go to our present
