It was who read in Diablo Blue that the date for the Board meeting was the 13th. I emailed Ron to determine if this was correct. Unfortunately, that was on the evening of the 5th, and I did not see Ron’s response, sent later that evening, until 10:00 the following evening..That’s when I learned that the newsletter was incorrect and I had just missed the November Board meeting. Well, okay, maybe Ron wasn’t all wrong in his reporting. Maybe Ted also fell for this trick. But I must object to not being the main topic of Ron’s Minutes. I mean, I’m the one whose absence leaves the Board nearly incapacitated. I work heard each month, trying desperately to make it sound like important things are said and done at the Board meetings and what recognition do I get? And I never say anything about myself in these Minutes. I just stay quietly in the background, faithfully reporting the facts. I… Wait! Stop! No need to check out those back issues — this is true! I never… Well, okay, once or twice this past year I may have voiced a personal opinion. OKAY! OKAY! I think I actually did use the pronoun “I” once, also. It was in March, or maybe April. Look. Just forget it. The important thing is that I made it to the December meeting, and here is my report. New Business: Rumor Mill: Ron and Alan both have heard that BofA is moving out of their technology center, which means we may have a problem. I asked a friend of mine who works there if this was true, but he had not heard any such rumors. Which proves nothing, as they are probably going to lay him off and felt since he would be gone first, there was no need to trouble him with real estate issues. Legal Trivia: The Constitution of the United States (which we have all no doubt re-read since September 11) makes no provision for private property but does provide for bankruptcy courts. This is probably because there is more money for lawyers in you filing for bankruptcy than in your owning a bookcase or a socket wrench. User Groups: Ron brought several newsletters from various user groups for us to browse through. The NCMUG (Northern California MAC User Group) seems to be thriving with over 250 |
