Since Ron wasn't there in person, Peggy and I were forced to eat extra dessert in his stead. New Business: Speakers: Alan informed us that MGI was suddenly not able to make it to the next meeting as scheduled. Apparently they ran out of free software to sell to us at a discounted rate. So we talked for a while about what to do for a substitute. As sometimes happens at our meetings, someone had a good idea. I believe it was Peggy, but there seems to be some caramel apple cake smeared across my notes at this point. The idea was to find someone to talk about personal web pages: how to build them and maintain them. Several names were offered up, and hopefully Alan will be able to track one of them down for the meeting. Ruminations: In the course of the above discussion we drifted into that age-old Question that has stumped mankind since the 1960's: What do our computer club members really want to get out of the monthly meetings? Not all of us are as cynical as our Treasurer, Jessica Mildwurm, who maintains that the majority of our members attend the meeting because it offers a warm place to sleep. In an attempt to get a less jaundiced answer to this you will find that this newsletter contains, on page 3, a questionnaire on this subject. Please cut out this page, make a copy of it, or print it out from the DVPC web site, answer the questions, and bring it to the next meeting (in case you forget, there will be a supply there for you to fill out). This is your chance to tell us what you would like us to concentrate on at the meetings, so please help us out! More web stuff: Alan mentioned knowing a person who is making a good living selling homes on the internet. We briefly discussed the motivation and intelligence of someone willing to buy a home in this fashion.
