February 1, 2001 Meeting Announcement PowerQuest
At the February DVPC meeting we'll have the Barlows representing PowerQuest and demonstrating selected titles from their full range of disk management, deployment, and protection software. The range of PowerQuest software packages include PartitionMagic, ServerMagic, BootMagic, Drive Image and Drive Image Pro, Drive Copy, Easy Restore, Second Chance, Lost & Found, DataGone, and PowerQuest DataKeeper. The most famous is PartitionMagic, which lets you repartition your hard drive without losing data. However, we should see demos of several packages including some you've probably not seen before. This month we will be challenging you with a new game. When you come to the February monthly meeting, see Peggy, Stan, (or whomever is at the table when you enter) and get your puzzle. Be sure you turn it in before the first speaker (yes, those who come early get more time to work on it) and one member will get a prize. Good luck! DVPC meetings are held in the lobby conference room in Building B at the Bank of America Technology Center office complex in Concord, located near the northeast corner of Clayton Road at Galindo (see the Map to Monthly Meetings on page 15). Please use the main entrance of the building, which is in the center of the front of the building that faces Clayton road. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. We will have the next installment of PC 101, our New Users SIG class run by Craig Peterson on how to use the computer, at 6:15 p.m. This month's class is titled "Spreadsheet formulas or How to make money at home in your spare time". The classes are open to all members. We'll also have the Networking Table from 6:30 to 7:00; if you have something to sell or trade, need technical help, or just want to exchange views, visit the Networking Table. We may have one of our ever-popular mini-auctions with great products, so bring your checkbooks and cash! Also, as usual, we'll have library disks and those great DVPC mugs (version 2) for sale, SIG news, random access, and some of our usual great door prizes. See you at the meeting!

President's Corner by Alan Mildwurm, DVPC I'm writing this article just a few days into the New Year. I hope any and all resolutions you made are fairing better than the ones I made. Actually, I think I broke a few personal records in the speed in which I ignored mine! Oh, well… This month we welcome two long time friends, Gene and Linda Barlow who will demo a number of new and updated products from PowerQuest including Partition Magic, Lost & Found and more. See their web site at www.powerquest.com. I hope Steve Israel will be able to join us soon and talk about Comdex -- before long it will be really old news. In March we plan to do a program on mp3 technology, and in April I hope to get Intuit to present their latest products including their new web-based database service. Of course in April we will also hold our elections. I expect no hanging, pregnant, or dimpled chads. Let's see some fresh faces on the Board of Directors… it's a fun group, and the business of DVPC isn't Robert's Rules of Order at all. In

You
Asked for It!
We've been

a huge file to download (as PDF files often are), 669K, but
if you have the bandwidth, or the time, go for it! You'll
need Adobe
Acrobat, and/or the Acrobat plug-in for your browser,
to be able to read this PDF document file.
Ready? Click
