DVPC Board Meeting Minutes...

(Continued from page 7)

Elections: Charlie showed up at the meeting for the first time in a while. I believe his intent was to make certain we didn't dump him off the Board, although he claimed he just happened to see the pizzas being delivered and thought he would drop in to make certain there were no leftovers.
Charlie was relieved to discover that we had no such evil intentions, and he is on the slate of candidates running for election this year. Pretty much all of us are, although Stan now has a conflict with the Board meeting and probably won't be attending for the foreseeable future. It seems the beekeepers serve better meals than we do. I can't think of any other reason Stan would choose their meetings over ours.
And there is no truth to the rumor going around that Bill Bradley dropped out of the presidential race to concentrate on campaigning for the position of DVPC Treasurer.
There is still a chance to serve on the new Board. Candidates are encouraged to contact a Board Member to get their name on the ballot.
New Business:
Membership: (This is really Old Business, since we spoke about it last month, but it was already here under New Business, and I'm too lazy to move it.) Peggy reported our membership continues to slowly grow. This with virtually no effort being made by the Board! The Members are therefore to be congratulated for their hard work in spreading the news about DVPC and bringing these new members into the fold. You are an inspiration to the Board!
As you can tell from the above, this was what is known in the profession as a "slow news day" meeting. The high point was probably Charlie's explanation of how to tell a brochure from a poster. Anyway, this month's minutes are even boring
me, and I love to hear myself write, so I think it's time to end them.
Don't forget, the April meeting has two great attractions: Microsoft will introduce us to Windows 2000 Professional (the desktop version), and the elections for members of the Board of Directors. Remember, vote early and vote often... and remember the name: Tom Krauss. Tom Krauss. Tom Krauss.

Debunk 'em...

the eight miles of headers showing everyone else who's received it over the last 6 months. It sure wouldn't hurt to get rid of all the ">>" that begin each line either. Besides, if it has gone around that many times we've probably already seen it.
9. Craig Shergold (or Sherwood, or Sherman, etc.) in England is not dying of cancer or anything else at this time and would like everyone to stop sending him their business cards. He apparently is no longer a "little boy" either.
10. The "Make a Wish" foundation is a real organization doing fine work, but they have had to establish a special toll free hot line in response to the large number of Internet hoaxes using their good name and reputation. It is distracting them from the important work they do.
11. If you are one of those insufferable idiots who forwards anything that "promises" something bad will happen if you "don't," then something bad will happen to you if I ever meet you in a dark alley.
12. Women really are suffering in Afghanistan, and PBS and NEA funding are still vulnerable to attack (although not at the present time) but forwarding an e-mail won't help either cause in the least. If you want to help, contact your local legislative representative, or get in touch with Amnesty International or the Red Cross. As a general rule, e-mail "signatures" are easily faked and mean nothing to anyone with any power to do anything about whatever the competition is complaining about.
13. IBM is not giving away free computers because Netscape bought AOL.
